Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know as a bailiff on the platform.
Go to the Permit Scan tab and tap Scan with Camera. Point your device at the angler's QR code on their phone or printed permit. The result appears immediately - green for valid, red for invalid. You can add a personal note to any scan and file a report directly from the result card.
If the permit is invalid (expired, not found, or flagged), tap File Report on the result card. It takes you to the File Report tab with the angler's name filled in. Fill in the details and submit. Always check that the permit fishery matches the water you're on - the scan shows the fishery name on the result card, so verify it by eye before letting the angler continue.
Go to the File Report tab. Enter the angler's name, pick an action - Report an Incident or Request ban from Fishery - choose a severity and describe what happened. Photos can't be attached to a report.
Report an Incident notifies the fishery about the incident. Request ban from Fishery sends a ban request to the Fishery Manager for the relevant fishery - the angler would be banned from that specific fishery pending the manager's approval.
The Scan Log tab shows every permit scanned at the fishery you have selected, with date, result, permit type, angler, and who scanned it. You can search by permit ID, angler or scanner, filter by status - Valid, Invalid, Revoked, Expired, Not Yet Valid, or Ban / Report - and narrow it to a date range. You can file a report against any row, including a valid scan.
Yes, if you download today's data first. While you have signal, pick your fishery in the fishery selector and tap Download on the Permit Scan tab. Offline, scans are checked against that copy and marked Offline check. It covers today and that fishery only and won't show later changes, so re-check an amber Not in your copy result in signal. Scans send when signal returns, so don't log out before then.
Go to the Banned List tab. You can search by name or angler ID, and the list follows the fishery chosen in the fishery selector at the top of the page. Each entry shows the angler's reports and internal notes. You can expand any entry to see the full report history.
There's no Messages tab at the moment. To contact a fishery, go to the Support tab, choose A Fishery under Relates to and raise a ticket. For anything about the platform itself, choose Platform Support. Replies appear in My Tickets and you'll get an email when someone responds. There's no way to message another bailiff through the platform.
Go to the Support tab. You can raise a ticket directed to either a fishery or Platform Support. Choose a category, describe your issue, attach files if needed, and submit. You'll see replies in the My Tickets section and receive email notifications.
Your safety comes first. Do not put yourself at risk. Step back, observe from a safe distance, and call Police Scotland on 101 (or 999 if in progress). For pollution, call SEPA on 0800 80 70 60. Once safe, log the incident through the File Report tab so the fishery has a record.
